Laboratory technicians
Laboratory technicians support scientists from a large amount of scientific disciplines. Their job involves work in research, development, investigation and education. Laboratory technicians also provide technical support to enable the laboratory to function efficaciously. They work with scientists specialized in a variety of fields from microelectronics to biotechnology. A laboratory technician's main duties may include: preparing specimens and samples, performing repetitive laboratory tests, recording and interpreting results, helping diagnose disease, assisting with research etc. A qualified laboratory technician possesses knowledge of physics and applied sciences and a solid understanding of microtechnology. Mechanical aptitudes and interpersonal skills may also be required.
